Quality & Testing

A reference material is only as useful as the paperwork behind it. Here is exactly what we test, how we test it, and where to find the certificate for the lot you received.

RP-HPLC purity

Reverse-phase HPLC with UV detection at 214 nm establishes the purity figure printed on the certificate.

LC-MS identity

Mass spectrometry confirms the observed molecular weight against the theoretical value for the sequence.

Appearance & fill

Visual inspection of the lyophilate and confirmation of the presented mass before labelling.

Archived records

Certificates are retained and indexed by lot so a result can be retrieved long after dispatch.

Recent lot certificates

Certificates are listed by lot. If the lot number on your vial is not shown below, send it to us and we will return the archived certificate for that specific lot.

Reading a certificate

What the numbers mean

The percentage of total peak area attributable to the main peak in a reverse-phase chromatogram. It describes chromatographic purity of the material as analysed, not potency and not suitability for any use in a living organism.
Mass spectrometry returns an observed molecular weight, which is compared against the value calculated from the intended sequence. Agreement within instrument tolerance supports identity; it is not a purity measurement.
Lyophilized peptides carry residual water and counter-ions, so the net peptide fraction of a vial is normally below its gross mass. Where a lot has been assayed for net content, the figure appears on that lot's certificate.
A certificate of analysis is an analytical record. It is not a sterility certificate, not an endotoxin result, and not a statement of safety or suitability for use in humans or animals. Our materials are not sterile and are not intended for any such use.
